Westward Expansion Presentation Self Assesment

Did you stand up straight but stay relaxed?
I felt that I was reasonably relaxed, and did not slouch. I feel rather happy about that.

Did you pause for a moment before you began your speech?
I'm not sure if I did, but I sure hope so. I think I may have.

Did you look at your audience?
I made eye direct contact with almost everyone. I feel that I made to much contact with the right side of the room.

Did you let your facial expressions naturally reflect what you were saying?
I don't feel like I had much to express about, really. But I do feel like I use a lot of expression.

Did you use your hands?
I feel like I used to much hand gesturing. My arms were a flying windmill, really.

Did you speak loudly enough so that everyone could hear you?
I spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear. I think my voice undulated to much though.

Did you change your tone to show how you felt (upset, excited) about an idea or to emphasize a point?
I didn't have much of an emotional range to speak of. Wagons don't incite many emotions.

Was your speed of delivery too fast, too slow or just right?
I feel that at some points I was slow and others fast. For much of the presentation though, I was just right.

Did you practice your speech at home before giving it?
I did not practice at home. I did go over it in my mind a few times though.

What did you notice that you did well in your speech?
I Presented a lot of factual information. I felt I presented more than some others.

Describe one aspect of public speaking you will work to improve?
My fluctuating voice was a major problem. I need to have a more steady tone.

Cool Technology

A new super car named the 'Splinter', is set to hit the markets this year. The car can turn out a whopping 700bhp from its twin supercharged, 4.6litre V8 engine - almost 300bhp more than a Porsche 911. With a top speed of 240 mph, it will be faster then a Lamborghini and get 20 mpg. Did I mention that everything is made of wood? From the shocks to the seats, the car has everything that can be wood, wood. In fact some parts of the engine are wood, too.

A Swiss man by the name of Yves Rossy has built the world's first jet powered wing backpack,
known as a jetwing. it is not a jetpack because of the wing component, which makes lift possible. He recently flew across the English Channel. He is funded by a watch company, so he called himself 'Fusion Man' after their new product line.

Intimate Conversation Poem

Dear Chase,

You haven't visited
in a long while.
College must take a lot
of your time.

Maybe you don't want to come
because of the guest room
is covered in pink blankets,
a small, uncomfortable flower.

Remember all the funny conversations
that we shared together?
With me always listening
and adding to your tale,
you battling the time police
and fighting cyberninjas?

This is Just to Say...

I stole your cat.
I couldn't help it,
he was so fuzzy.

I am sorry for taking her.
She came along and nuzzled me
so I had to take her home.

By the way, she had some
really cute kittens today.
Too bad you weren't there.

What am I?

Peaceful and mad,
raging and sad.
all around I lay,
though sometimes distant,
I stay.
Compared to me your just a pup
In my opinion your all washed up.

(highlight below for the answer)
The ocean.

What If

What if...

The world was a bouncing ball?
Civilizations rise and fall
to the bounce of the
celestial pulse.
Impact,
the end of the dinosaurs.
Impact,
the end of man.
And perhaps after time
the ball will be lost.
